Teacher Appreciation Week (Inspiration!)

April 30, 2025 by Emily Moore
  • What’s a math teacher’s favorite season? Sum-mer!

Teacher Appreciation Week (the first full week of May) is a time to recognize and support the incredible educators who shape our kids’ lives every single day. From tailoring lessons to different learning styles to nurturing emotional growth, teachers show up with creativity, compassion, and seemingly endless patience.

This week holds extra special meaning at Sticky Fingers Cooking® because many of our amazing chef instructors and local leaders are current or former teachers. That experience shapes how we educate and connect with kids. And we know just how powerful a simple “thank you” can be.

And yet, we also know that when it comes to saying “thank you,” it’s easy to feel a little stuck. What kind of thank-you really makes a teacher’s day?

We asked some of our favorite educators what gestures have meant the most. Here’s what they shared:

1.     Teacher Thank-You Notes That Matter

Across the board, teachers told us the most meaningful gifts they’ve received weren’t expensive — they were heartfelt.

  • Have your child draw a picture or write a sentence about what they love about their teacher. (“You make math fun!” or “I like how you read books in silly voices!”)
  • Add your own message. Be specific: “Maria has fallen in love with reading – thank you!” “You’ve helped Jared feel confident in math — we’re so grateful.”
  • Extra short on time? Send a quick email. Pro Tip: CC the principal!

2.     Easy Homemade Treats for Teachers

Homemade treats or meals can feel incredibly thoughtful. You could make:

Pro Tip #2: Always include an ingredient list, just in case of allergies.

3.     Everyday Ways to Support Teachers

One of the most meaningful ways to appreciate teachers? Be a strong partner in your child’s learning journey.

  • Trust their expertise: Teachers are trained professionals. Trust their judgment.
  • Support learning at home: Read with your child, practice math facts together, and help them build good study habits – it all makes a teacher’s job easier!
  • Stay connected: Read school emails, check in on classroom updates, and talk with other parents. Being informed helps you stay engaged.
  • Give what you can: Donations of time, supplies, or funds are always appreciated. Sites like DonorsChoose.org let you support real classroom projects around the country.

4.     Best Gift Cards for Teachers

When in doubt, go with a gift card. They’re practical, appreciated, and let teachers choose what they want. Popular ones include grocery stores, local restaurants, and delivery apps.

Pair it with a quick thank-you note for a personal touch!

However You Say It… Just Say It!

It’s not about doing the biggest or best thing. What matters most is the message:

“We see you. We appreciate you. Thank you!”

This Teacher Appreciation Week — and EVERY week — we’re sending love and gratitude to educators everywhere, especially the many incredible teachers who are part of our own team!
