To date, Sticky Fingers Cooking® has partnered with over 100 libraries! We’ve offered over 500 classes and taught over 10,000 kids through our library programs! The impact is best captured by the words of one camper: “Two thumbs up, two feet up, both arms up—definitely belly up. It was just that good!”

February is National Library Lovers Month, a chance to recognize the vital role libraries play in our communities. Libraries have grown from quiet reading rooms into hubs of technology, creativity, and connection for people of all ages. They’re places where learning happens, and communities come together.

From the very beginning, Sticky Fingers Cooking® has been fortunate to work with libraries to bring hands-on cooking experiences to children in their own neighborhoods. Our mobile kitchen model turns library spaces into creative classrooms where kids can learn essential life skills through cooking.

During the pandemic, libraries became essential partners in adapting to virtual programming. Together, we helped children stay engaged and connected, even from their own kitchens, offering a sense of stability and creativity during a challenging time. 

Naturally, one of our most beloved offerings at libraries is our “Cooks + Books” programming, where kids prepare dishes inspired by their favorite children’s stories. Kids delight in making “Mischievous Red Pepper Goulash” after a captivating reading of Where the Wild Things Are. We offer two versions of this popular experience: a 60-90-minute class and a week-long, half-day camp. Both versions are designed to engage kids in hands-on cooking while bringing stories to life in the kitchen.
