This popular camp has been featured in more than 200 libraries across 18 states! Librarians love how it brings books to life in an interactive way, and parents appreciate that their kids are learning valuable kitchen skills while staying connected to reading during summer break.
What is Cooks + Books Summer Camp?
During the book-themed cooking camp, kids are transported into imaginary worlds through beloved books like Bagel in Love by Natasha Wing, Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peña, and The Magic School Bus Gets Baked in a Cake by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen! Our talented instructors set the scene and lead kids in cooking recipes that bring the stories to life. This interactive and educational experience is designed to nourish kids’ minds and bellies while teaching them essential cooking skills and techniques.
For kids who love to read but are hesitant to try new foods, Cooks + Books Summer Camp offers a safe and welcoming setting to try new flavors and ingredients. And it works the other way, too – helping even reluctant readers connect to books through cooking.
